1-19-08 - Resolutions for 08
Not sure about you, but we have a busy year ahead of us. We resolve to release more records, make more music videos, tour more, and meet as many new fans as we can!
Please watch our news page an our myspace for upcoming news and announcements about a new record in February, a cd release party, and music video for our new song "She's Wasted".
Take care and happy new year.
10-24-07 - 9 o'clock shadow
If you've ever seen us at Club Dada, you've probably met our buddy "Beard" who works the door. As Amanda Newman describes him, "Beard is Dada in a lot of ways. He's the gruff guy who sits outside with his arms crossed and always has a funny insult for somebody."
Beard was hospitalized for a few days following a seizure last week, and although he's feeling better, he could use a helping hand with his medical bills.
Amanda's put together a benefit concert, a.k.a. the BEARD-A-FIT, which we're playing at 9:00 pm this Sunday, October 28. There will be music from 1pm until midnight, with a dozen acts including David Garza, Hard Night's Day, and Brave Combo.
9-24-07 - Bows but not arrows
We had fun this weekend sprinkling some fairy dust on a couple of new album tracks. We were lucky enough to get the very talented Buffi J in the studio before she leaves on a month-long tour with the Polyphonic Spree. Buffi is a phenomenally versatile cellist and she helped us add some nice dark, brooding string parts. Hopefully we'll recreate it live for you if she joins us for the CD release show.
9-20-07 - Cavern tomorrow night
Hey guys, it's 89 degrees out there, and that can only mean one thing. It is Fall in Texas. Also my left eye won't stop watering, which is a telltale sign.
Come hear us make music sounds at the Cavern tomorrow night, 'round midnight. I'll be the one with one hand on the keyboard and one hand rubbing my eye.
9-5-07 - Carter
There's not much we can add to the outpouring of support for our friend Carter, whose passing has shocked and humbled us all. Carter, we have been fortunate to share the stage with you, joke and philosophize with you. We'll miss you.
8-15-07 - Get a free CD
We're playing this Saturday night August 18th at Club Dada.
Here's the deal. There are ten posters up around town and on those
posters are ten little tickets. If you go and grab one and present it at
the merch table, you will receive one free Soft Radio EP CD. This is no
treasure hunt, so the locations are...
CD Source (Greenville)
CD World (Greenville)
Good Records
AllGood Cafe (2 posters 20 free CD tickets)
Buffalo Exchange
Cafe Brazil (Greenville)
Bill's Records and Tapes
Club Dada (2 posters as well)
5-18-07 - Downtown lunch show
For anyone who works for "the man" downtown... get outside and come hear some music today from 12 - 1 pm at Pegasus Plaza. We're the featured artist this week in the AT&T Out to Lunch Concert Series 2007. We'll be playing an hour set and they will be giving away brown bag lunches to the first 300 attendees. You can also grab a bite on the Iron Cactus patio and listen from there.
Pegasus Plaza is in downtown Dallas at the intersection of Main St. and Akard St. [ google map ]
3-17-07 - SXSW Press
We got a brief mention in the DFW Quick blog for our B.D. Riley's performance on Wednesday. Check it out.
3-16-07 - SXSW
South by Southwest is NOW, in case you have been sleeping under a rock or have been hypnotized / kidnapped by corporate radio. Like most of our fellow noisemakers, Airline has felt the gravitational pull to Austin.
We got a chance to revisit B.D. Riley's on Wednesday afternoon (we played the same party last year).
Free drinks were abundant, and the tunes were killer with Pleasant Grove, Doug Burr, The Mercers, and Arthur Yoria joining us on the bill.
Saturday afternoon, Summer Break Records is throwing a party at the Shoal Creek Saloon (9th and N. Lamar). We will play around 1:00 pm. Sarah Jaffe, Here In Arms, The Cutoff, Carter Albrecht, and Pleasant Grove will be showcasing as well -- and there is NO cover. Who said you need a wristband to be one of the cool kids?
3-16-07 - Preface EP - limited release
Airline has recorded a 4 song demo with our friends at Junius Recording Co. This is exciting for us, as it represents some of the newer songs that we have been playing in our live sets.
We lovingly burned and packaged about 200 discs that we are starting to share with fans and friends. Ask us about it at our shows or at SXSW, or look for the stark white / black packaging at the merch table.
If you can't get a copy in person, we have the mp3 tracks available for free download, here on the Music page or on our MySpace page.

1-19-07 - Gypsy Tea Room review Luke Hudson over at PopSyndicate.com wrote some kind words about AIRLINE's show at Gypsy Tea Room. Read em here.

So come on out and wear your best pair of drinkin underwear!!!
7-28-06 - The 411 on the LBG
Hello ladies and gents. Our last gig went so well that we've decided to play another one.We will be playing at Lakewood Bar and Grill, Saturday August 5th. It's a great little neighborhood place located on Gaston Avenue in ( you guessed it ) Lakewood. The lineup for this gig hasn't been quite solidified as of yet but we're sure that we will be happy to share the stage with whomever agrees to play with us that night. So come on out, kick back, enjoy some tunes, check out the new sound system and don't forget to wear your drinkin' hat. See y'all soon.
7-18-06 - Walking a Fine Line
Yes.... We are back and we are busy. In the following weeks there will be many new postings on this site about various goings on and what not. The thing we're most excited about right now is Listening To: at Club Dada. Our show will be this Thursday night ( July 20th ). Listening To: is an excellent showcase brought to you by Amanda Newman and Cindy Chaffin of FineLineLive.com . The audiences for these shows have been growing steadily every week. And our hosts couldn't be more...... INTO IT ! So, come check us out along with Children 18:3, Pilot for Kite and Cowpilot. We go on AT 10pm. We'll see ya there.
7-13-06 - AIRLINE REORG
The in-the-know gals over at FineLineLive.com seemed to have picked up on our recent reorganization/lineup changes. We thank them (and Jeff Jones) for the kind words. Check out the story here.
6-30-06 - Touring in the Summer
It's an exciting time for AIRLINE. Our Manager is hard at
work....piecing together a string of out-of-town shows for
mid to late summer. We're excited to hit some new towns,
play some new material (listen to the lower-listed mp3's on
the music page), and meet some new people. Keep checking
out the shows page for new dates. In fact, jot a few down,
throw on the datebook and come say hello.
5-31-06 - Farewell Micah
We are really sorry to inform everybody that our good friend
and drummer Micah is going to be leaving the band. He will
be playing one more show with us this Saturday June 3rd at
The Liquid Lounge and then say goodbye. Micah is a
fascinating artist with a huge passion for graphic design
and will now have the time to pursue it totally, and all of
us from Airline wish him the best, although we will miss him.
The good news is that, while Micah was a founding member of
Airline and an intricate part of the band for almost a year,
we will not be disbanding, only re-vamping the current four
man line up. After the show on the 3rd, we will take a few
weeks to get things together, and then come out fresh and
strong as the NEW Airline.
So everybody come on out and support Micah at his last show
and we'll give him a strong farewell.
3-9-06 - SXSW show - March 15
We're proud to announce that AIRLINE will be playing a showcase show at South by Southwest (SXW) Music Festival in Austin, TX on March 15. See
the details here.
2-20-06 - AIRLINE on film
Ok, so it's not exactly our first MTV-ready video, but good
ol' Texas Gigs did record some video of our first few tunes
on Saturday at the amazing Sons of Hermann Hall in Dallas' on-the-up-and-up-again/historic Deep Ellum. See the video taken by Alex Kanakis over at Texas Gigs/Pegasus News. I think Chris was the only one that knew it was happening...watch when he slicks his eyebrows back just before the 2nd song!

5-18-05 - Record Update...
What's up! For those of you waiting for our upcoming
EP, and anyone else who cares to know, here is what's been going on.
We started pre-production about a year ago this June and slowly recorded throughout the rest of 2004 and early 2005, with the talented Mr. Jeff Halbert, whenever we had saved up enough funds to do so. Anyhow, we finished mixing (the final stage of recording for you non-musicians) around mid-March. Since then we have been talking to an indie-label in Dallas about helping with the final stages, mastering and packaging. Those talks are now in the final stages and it looks like we should have the record done within the next month...I know I've been saying that for a while, but this time I mean it!
So I greatly appreciate your patience, and for the new fans...good timing.
Take care, Robby
